Marri

Grown in the forests of south Western Australia, this beautiful shimmering hardwood has a golden glow not unlike the honey derived from its flower. As durable as Jarrah, each piece of wood has a unique character being the result of gum veins, borer holes, grain discolouring, wind, drought, rain and fire.

This durable timber has been much prized since the early days of Australian settlement, when Jarrah cobbles once paved the streets of London. The distinctive richness of this world famous hardwood is evident in its warm toned hues ranging from deep reddish-brown to salmon pink.

The strength and beautiful grain patterns and tones of these spectacular timbers complement perfectly the timeless design and master craftsmanship of Brooker Furniture & Gallery.

A Brief History of Brooker Furniture

The ‘Evolution of the Tree’ with Brooker Furniture began over 27 years ago, featuring the strength, durability and magnificence of the unique Western Australian Jarrah timber.

Brothers Michael and Les Brooker originally commenced the business producing custom and purpose built Jarrah Furniture, initially subcontracting to Fremantle Furniture Factory in Henry Street, Fremantle - less than 100 metres from our current gallery.

After 2 years, the brothers branched out to form BVR Furniture which concentrated on the manufacture of custom dining tables and chairs in Jarrah and various Australian timbers.

During this time the business was contracted to produce chairs for Government House of Western Australia. After 25 years, these chairs still are in use and are in very good condition.

To compliment the beauty of Jarrah, In the mid 90’s Brooker Furniture in conjunction with the Department of Conservation and Land Management of Western Australia contributed in developing an industry with another uniquely West Australian timber - Red Gum, now commonly known as ‘Marri’.

Our handcrafted and custom designed Jarrah and Marri furniture is now supplied to local, interstate and international furniture markets, with Brooker Furniture gracing and enhancing private homes through to corporate offices and boardrooms.

The Brooker Furniture designers liaise with private and commercial clients to customise their unique and exclusive pieces of furniture to suit all needs.

Today Brooker Furniture has created a niche business, producing custom and purpose built Jarrah and Marri furniture. It prides itself on a reputation of delivering quality crafted furniture in Jarrah and Marri with total customer care from design through to installation.
